  1. Golf is the only sport to have been 'played' on the moon - on 6 February 1971 Alan Shepard hit a golf ball.

  2. In 1911 a dog was killed by a meteor at Nakhla, Egypt. This unlucky creatre is the only one known to have been killed by a meteor.

  3. If the sun suddenly stopped shining it would take eight minutes for people on earth to be aware of it.

  4. Time slows down near a black hole and inside ceases to exist.

  5. From space, the brightest man-made place is Las Vegas, Nevada

  6. Earth is the densest planet in the solar system and only one which is not named after a mythical god.

  7. To remember the order of the planets use the phrase 'My Very Eager Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas' - the capital letters give the order of planets, beginning with closest to sun - Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto.

  8. In 1958 the US sent 2 mice into space - Benjy and Laska.

  9. Comets are a mixture of ice and dust that failed to come together as a planet. Sometimes they are called "dirty snowballs".

  10. More than 1 million Earths could fit inside the sun. By far, the Sun is the largest object in our solar system.

  12. The first 'Chimponaut' was 3 year old Ham, who rocketed into space on January 31, 1961.

  13. The footprints left by astronauts on the Moon should last several million years.

  14. Buzz Aldrin's (second man on the moon) Mother's name was Marion Moon.

  15. All the planets in our solar system could be placed inside the planet Jupiter.

  16. In space no one can see you cry - gravity means tears won't flow normally.

There's only one fact is about sports. But youguys don't have to really be so mean to the person who probably worked so hard to make this site. He/she probably started out wnating to write about sports, ad then changed his mind to science, but he/she might have forgot to change the title.
