There are a few common things, which must be present in every house in order to make it pleasant to live in. For one there must be plenty of natural light coming into the house to give it a lively and fresh presence.
Your home should give you a sense of security and comfort. It should give you a feeling of being protected from the outside world. At the same time you should be comfortable in the house. It should have comfortable couches, chairs and beds for you to lie down and relax as your mood might be.
One should also re arrange the furniture every three or four months to get that new look for your home. One should not change it just for the sake of changing it but see how is it that slight modifications may result in improvements in the way the rooms are laid out. While at some point you may feel that “this is perfect”, there’s always scope for improvement.
Carve out a place for yourself. It does not have to be a huge place or something but just that something special. It should have what you like and what makes you feel special about yourself. It could really be a simple as special chair in front of the dressing table or a beanbag near your favourite window. It must be something that brings a smile on your face and gives you a sense of indulgence about yourself.
Very often our houses are stuffed with things we might never use. Its best to get rid of such things and make the house or even a drawer of a table clear. This gives you a sense of cleanliness and space both of which are necessary for a sense of well-being.
It is a great idea to remind yourself about the things that you enjoy or the good times of your life. So you might think of putting up photos of your children when they were just newly born or have plants in the house, maybe have pictures of nature if you are the one who likes being in the lap of luxury.
Make a point to get the television, fridge and other stuff cleaned up on a regular basis so that dust doesn’t settle in and spoil your mood every time you touch the fridge or spot the speck on the television.
Simple things, which don’t take a lot of effort, can greatly increase the affinity that you have to your home and make it a lot more fun to live in.
