Astrology Tutorial 4 - Planets and their Natural Characteristics (Part II)

All planets, with full sight (purna drishti), looks at (glance) the seventh house from the house of their placement (where they are positioned) in a horoscope.

The Mars looks at fourth and eight houses also (in addition to seventh house) with full sight but rest of the planets look at fourth and eighth houses with three-fourth of the sight.

The Jupiter looks at fifth and ninth houses also (in addition to seventh house) with full sight but rest of the planets looks at these houses (fifth and ninth) with one -half sight only.

The Saturn looks at third and tenth houses also (in addition to seventh house) with full sight but rest of the planets looks at these houses (third and tenth) with one-fourth sight only.

Nothing has been said regarding sight of Rahu and Ketu since they are only shadow planets. They do not have any sight; this is one school of thought. Another school of thought says that the Rahu is like Saturn and Ketu is like Mars.
Another group of learned astrologers are of the opinion that Rahu and ketu behaves like lord of the bhava (house) in which they are placed in a horoscope or like the planet with whom they are placed in a horoscope.

NATURAL ENEMITY AND FRIENDSHIP AMONG PLANETS

As human beings have friends and enemies, in the same manner planets also have friends and enemies. The table given below gives the details of natural friendship or animosity among the planets.

IMMEDIATE FRIENDSHIP OR ENEMITY OF THE PLANETS

Beside having the natural friends or enemies, the planets do have immediate friends (tatkalik mitra) or immediate enemy (tatkalik shatru) according to their placement in a horoscope. Any planet consider all other planets, which are placed in second, third, fourth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth house from its placement, as immediate friends and all planets, which are placed in fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth from its placement, as immediate enemies.

It should be clear that planets placed in the same house consider each other as immediate enemies.

As explained above, the planets have two types of friendship i.e., natural and immediate, so to conclude the relationship between the planets, in a horoscope, we use the simple way given below:

Natural Friend + Immediate Friend =Great Friend (Param Mitra)
Natural Friend + Immediate Enemy =Neutral (Sum)
Natural Enemy + Immediate Enemy =Bitter Enemy (Param Shatru)
Natural Enemy + Immediate Friend = Neutral (Sum)
Natural Neutral + Immediate Friend =Friend (Mitra)
Natural Neutral + Immediate Enemy =Enemy (Shatru)

EXALTED OR DEBLIATED SIGNS FOR PLANETS

There are certain zodiac signs in which some planet is said to be exalted and becomes very strong and thus gives very good result. Every plant is debilitated in the seventh sign from the sign of its exaltation and is very weak in this position and gives very bad result. It is very important to know these positions of exaltation or debilitation as the result given by a planet depends on the strength of the planet .Following are the signs of exaltation and debilitation for various planets:

Besides the sign of exaltation, planets do have a "Mool Tricon (triangle)" sign in which it has 0.75 times power of what it has in sign of exaltation. The mool tricon signs of various planets are as under:
