Cellulite and its Treatment

What is Cellulite?

Bumps in the skin made by too many fat cells growing too large, it is actually a dimpling effect of fat caused by the way fat cells lie in or between connective tissue in the body. The grow of the fat cells leads to stretching of the natural fiber compartments which hold the skin to the underlying layers of tissue. In simpler words, it is fat deposits under the surface of the skin.

Is it common in women than men?

Yes, it is known to be a common problem in women. Women are more likely to get cellulite than men. The reason of its common appearance in women than in men because of differences in the way fat, muscle, and connective tissue are distributed in men and women's skin. Women naturally have a tendency for more fat deposition in the buttocks and thighs but it has been seen in most cases that this tendency only starts after a women's ovaries become hormonally active. Some times the problem is genetics.

What can be done about the problem?

  • A detoxifying diet is a great way in fighting cellulite. The diet consists of fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grain foods will do wonders. It helps on cutting down coffee, soda, smoking and alcohol and replacing them with low-fat diet, high in fiber and complex carbohydrates. The body gets help with this diet which makes it easy for the body to break down and use. Drinking plenty of water assists body in getting rid of unwanted toxins and waste.

  • Exercising is a great way to shape up the body. It helps in better circulation in the body which results in firmness in muscles and areas around them.

  • Massage is another way to fight cellulite and keep it at bay. It is a get way to relax the body and muscles, and stimulates the blood vessels in the skin. This clears out the lymph cells of the toxic fatty deposits, which cause the appearance of the dimply appearance of the skin. The anti-cellulite massages are offered in the spas and it is easy to do at the comfort of your home. Start massaging each leg at a time in circular movements gradually kneading the flesh. Doing it regularly for a couple of minutes each day can help in breaking down fat and getting rid of toxins.

  • Skin Brushing is a brilliant way to clean the lymphatic system which boost circulation and get rid of cellulite. Use a brush with natural fibers in the shower starting with your feet and gradually concentrating at the problem area. Do not overdo the brushing as it may cause redness of the skin.

Proper diet and healthy lifestyle helps in fighting and eliminating cellulite. Tension free life helps the body relax and function properly. Breathing and relaxing eases the muscles, oxygenates the body and helps in the purification of the entire body.
